Rockin' Pneumonia (1984), subtitled Dodecapop was commissioned by the Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble and written for a mixed chamber ensemble that includes Flute (Piccolo), Oboe, Clarinet, Piano, Percussion, Amplified Violin and Amplified Cello. All performers double on percussion as well. The title described the agenda of the composition in that the work is a strict 12-tone composition that sounds nothing at all like what the listener imagines that composition technique to lead to but rather, well, like pop music.
